At the Paris Peace Forum 2021, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen has officially announced that the European Union joined the Paris Call for Trust and Security in Cyberspace.
The call, launched in 2018, brings together governments, civil society organisations, and private companies to face the new cyber threats endangering citizens and infrastructures.
'Joining the Paris Call is another step on a common path. It is a commitment to working with all of you to reclaim the internet as a force for good. It is a commitment to making the values we cherish offline also respected online,' Ursula von der Leyen commented. The President also mentioned the EU's initiatives in the context of cyber resilience, artificial intelligence, and platforms' responsibility, including the European Cyber Resilience Act and the Digital Services Act.
The EU Cyber Direct project supports the Paris Call by promoting the Good Cyber Stories Initiative, which identifies and showcases projects that contribute to open, free, secure, stable, accessible and peaceful cyberspace, thus having a positive impact on people’s lives.
