New report 'Europe regional consultation: strengthening effective and inclusive cybercrime policymaking'

Report

Ahead of the negotiations for a new convention on countering the criminal use of ICTs in the United Nations Third Committee, EU Cyber Direct and Chatham House organised a regional consultation to engage with non-state stakeholders from the wider European region, with the aim of discussing views on developing a new international convention on cybercrime.

A new report summarises the key takeaways from the discussion, focusing on the three topics addressed:

  • scope and criminalization;
  • procedural measures and human rights safeguards;
  • international cooperation (including harmonisation and fragmentation)
