François Delerue, team leader on International Law and project expert for EU Cyber Direct, participated in the conference ‘The Application of International Law to Cyberspace’ on Friday 12 November at the University of Bologna (Italy). This conference was convened by Professor Attila Tanzi (University of Bologna) and the Italian Branch of the International Law Association.
The keynote presentation was delivered by Laura Carpini, Cybersecurity Coordinator at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, who notably discussed the newly released Italian Position Paper on ‘International Law and Cyberspace’ (4 November 2021).
The conference was then comprised of three panels, articulated around the main themes of the Italian Position Paper: ‘The International Law of State Responsibility in Cyberspace’ (Panel 1); ‘The International Law on the Use of Force in Cyberspace’ (Panel 2); and ‘The Protection of Individuals in Cyberspace’ (Panel 3).
François Delerue delivered a presentation on the law and policy of public attribution of cyber operations during the first panel.
