As the UN Open-Ended Working Group (OEWG) on ICT security concludes its mandate, EU Cyber Direct – EU Cyber Diplomacy Initiative and the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) co-hosted a multistakeholder dialogue on the future of cyber diplomacy on 7 July 2025 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
The session brought together representatives from civil society, the private sector, academia, and the technical community to reflect on their role in advancing international cooperation in cyberspace. Discussions focused on sustaining momentum beyond the OEWG, identifying strategic priorities, and exploring opportunities for coordination across diplomatic, regional, and technical forums.
The event reaffirmed the importance of inclusive approaches to cyber governance and the continued leadership of non-governmental actors in shaping a secure, stable, and rights-respecting digital future.
