As part of the EU-ASEAN Young Leaders Forum, EU Cyber Direct held a workshop on cyber diplomacy aiming to introduce regional perspectives and approaches from the EU and ASEAN and to consider what is at stake in international cyber diplomacy negotiations. The session focussed on the main topics discussed at the United Nations Open-ended Working Group on the security of and in the use of information and communications technologies:
• Norms, rules and principles for responsible state behaviour in cyberspace;
• Confidence-building measures;
• International cooperation and assistance in cyber capacity building.
Following the presentations of regional perspectives from Project Director Patryk Pawlak and Atlas Curator for Southeast Asia Mabda Haerunnisa Fajrilla, the young leaders participated in a guided scenario-based exercise and drew out positions and conclusions based on a draft proposal at the United Nations Open-Ended-Working Group on ICT (OEWG).
