Simona R.
Soare is research fellow with the
International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS). Simona specializes in
defence innovation and emerging and disruptive technologies with a focus on
North American and European defence, NATO, and the EU. Prior to joining IISS,
Simona was senior associate analyst for transatlantic defence and EU-NATO
cooperation with the EUISS in Paris leading the transatlantic security and
defence research programme. Between 2015 and 2020, dr Soare served as the
senior security and defence advisor to the Vice-President of the European
Parliament and the European Parliament delegate during the European Defence
Fund and precursor programs negotiations. Simona was a defence analyst with the
Ministry of Defence, and she has lectured in international security for over a
decade. Dr Soare holds a PhD in International Security (2011) and is a US
Department of State Fellow as well as a Denton Fellow.
