Marius Houwen works
for the EU Institute for Security Studies, where he supports research and
programming on capacity building and cyber diplomacy engagement through the EU
Cyber Direct Project. Previously, he was Cybersecurity and Digital
Diplomacy Coordinator at Microsoft European Government Affairs in Brussels.
Here, he focused on cyber diplomacy, cyber defence policy, foreign and security
policy, cyber threat intelligence and cyber capacity building. Before he worked
as a cybersecurity consultant for Nixu Corporation, and conducted research for
the Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) and Carnegie
Europe. He holds a M.A. in Global Security and Strategy (Cum Laude) from the
Brussels School of Governance and Bsc. in Security Studies from Leiden
University.
