Fer Avar is pursuing an MA in international relations at the Central European University, Vienna, and worked as a research intern for Carnegie Europe under the EU Cyber Direct – EU Cyber Diplomacy Initiative. She is currently an exchange student at Bard’s MA in Global Studies program at the BGIA campus in New York City for the autumn 2023 semester, combining intensive coursework with an integrated internship at Oxford Analytica. Her current research focus is on emerging security challenges in the Euro-Atlantic space, with a specific focus on the innovation, governance and impact of new and emerging technologies with a disruptive effect within the EU. Specifically, she works on AI-powered dual-use and military technologies, particularly relating to the development and deployment of increasingly autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles.
