Short Summary
Through the Autonomous Sanctions Amendment Bill 2021 and the Autonomous Sanctions Amendment Regulations 2021, the Australian Parliament has expanded the country's autonomous sanctions laws to enable the establishment of Magnitsky-style and other thematic sanctions.
The bill amends the previous sanctions laws and allows 'to sanction individuals and entities responsible for, or complicit in, egregious conduct, including malicious cyber activity, serious human rights abuses and violations, and serious corruption.'
